Pick one per room. We have watched a tray try to carry bags and pods at the same time. The bags lose, every time, because the machine is the thing the guest can see. Put the machine rooms on pods and the rest on bags, and both formats earn their space.

The format

Built for a tray, not a counter

Most in-room coffee is either a sachet of instant or a jar nobody touches. The enveloped bag sits between the two. It looks like something you would choose, and it survives three weeks on a tray without going flat.

  • Sealed, one at a timeEach bag has its own envelope, so the last one out of the case smells like the first.
  • A pyramid, not a flat sachetThe grounds have room to move, which is the difference between brewing and staining the water.
  • String and tagThe guest lifts it out. No spoon, no mess on the saucer, no soaked paper on the tray.

  • Specialty grade ArabicaRevive is Brazilian and Nicaraguan, nutty and smooth with milk chocolate. The decaf is Colombian single origin.

Where we are actually different

Decaf that is worth putting out

A tray needs both cups. The caffeinated one is straightforward, and Revive does that job well. The other one is where most hotels give up.

Most hotel decaf is an apology. It is usually stripped with solvents, and it tastes like it. Guests who order it have learned to expect the worst, which is why the decaf sachet is the one still sitting there at checkout.

Ours uses the Swiss Water Process. Water and time, no chemicals at any stage. It won two stars at the Great Taste Awards in 2025 and a Silver at the Great British Food Awards, judged as coffee rather than as decaf.

It is the single easiest upgrade on a tray, because it is the cup where the bar is lowest.
