What is decaf Swiss Water coffee?

But what exactly is decaf Swiss Water? Well, it’s a certified organic decaf coffee process using the natural compounds in green coffee alongside water to remove caffeine. Unlike chemical solvents, this process means that no residue is left over. What’s left is delicious Swiss Water decaf beans that don’t compromise on flavour or quality, ready to be turned into Pods, Swiss Water decaf ground coffee, or simply left as they are.

How does water processed decaf differ from other decaf coffee methods?

Swiss Water is unique as it is the only coffee decaffeination process to be exclusively focused and dedicated to ensuring the method is chemical-free. Most decaffeinated coffee is processed using chemical solvents, including methylene chloride and CO₂. Processes using chemical solvents result in leaving chemical residues behind, which is consumed into the body and alters the taste of the coffee.

How much caffeine is in water processed decaf?

While the caffeine content of decaf coffee Swiss Water depends on the type of bean, its preparation, and where it was grown, we can ballpark that a cup of coffee contains around 95 milligrams. The water processed decaf method ensures that 99.9% of the caffeine is extracted, meaning you get all the flavour without the buzz!

Are decaf Swiss Water beans sustainable?

Our decaf Swiss Water beans are chemical-free, containing no nasties or harmful substances. We don’t use methylene chloride or ethyl acetate in our caffeine extraction process, meaning that our decaf coffee Swiss Water process remains sustainable from farm to cup, just the way we like it!

Is Raw Bean decaf really caffeine-free?
Just about. We use the Swiss Water Process, which takes out 99.9% of the caffeine while keeping the flavour and aroma, so it's about as close to caffeine-free as decaf gets.
Do you use chemicals to decaffeinate it?
No. The Swiss Water Process only uses water, temperature and time, so nothing but the caffeine is taken out.
